There were a lot of small but worthy cameos, throwbacks from past movies, Easter Eggs, foreshadowings, and other moments to pay attention to.
1. Robert Redford reprises his role as Alexander Pierce of SHIELD (Hail Hydra) when Iron Man and Ant Man are trying to steal the Tesseract. Bonus points for the Hydra agents Rumlow and Sitwell too.
2. Tilda Swinton reprises her role as The Ancient One, Sorcerer Supreme before Doctor Strange. Her scene with The Hulk was one of my favorites.
3. William Hurt appears as General Ross during the funeral, as does Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) and of course Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury).
4. "On your left". Thanks Sam.
5. "I am Iron Man." The line that started it all is the line that finished it all. Also, cheeseburgers.
6. Michael Douglas as old Hank Pym but not young Hank Pym. Seeing him working on the original Ant Man concept was a nice touch. Also, Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne.
7. Random teenager at the funeral? What was that about? I had to actually spend time looking it up to figure it out - the young boy Iron Man befriends in Iron Man 3. Looks like Tony kept in touch in his own weird way, enough so that he was invited to this funeral.
8. Iron Man's daughter is playing with a blue Iron Man mask when we first meet her. Tony says it's a gift for mommy. We see later Pepper Potts in a blue Iron Man suit. Ooooh, foreshadowing!
9. As they all prepare to travel through time, Black Widow says "See you in a second." PSYCH! NOPE!
10. Howard Stark and Jarvis reprise their roles, in a way. Howard Stark from Iron Man 2, Jarvis from the TV Series Agent Carter.
Cameo that I am cranky did not happen:
1. Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull. Also was not present in Avengers Infinity War. What the hell, Hugo? You couldn't take half a day to record some dialogue and be all menacing like usual? It's only the biggest pair of movies in the history of movies. Or what, was he too expensive? Really? 1.2 billion dollars and you couldn't afford twelve hours with Hugo Weaving? UNLIKELY.
