Fun With Memes!
I think I do this meme once a year, just for kicks, and because I have nothing else to post about. Previous post notwithstanding.
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you 5 questions.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this offer to interview someone else in the post.
5. When others comment, asking to be interviewed, ask them 5 questions.
And, just because I'm efficient, if you really want to ask me five questions, just do so below! See? Easier than making your own post. Ask!
First, from
padparadscha:
1. They called you mad, but you'll show them all! If you were a mad scientist, what would your experiments be about?
Ah, who am I kidding? I'd manufacture a horde of super-sexy love slaves. I can't help it. Eventually I'd try to be productive, and my best-selling invention would be a device that allows you to transmit to the cell phone or radio/stereo of a car nearby. "Hey! Get off the phone and learn to drive!" would be the catchphrase of the new millennium. Although before I sold it, I'd probably drive around and hiss "This is the Grim Reaper. See you real soon" at anyone driving 45 in a 65 zone.
2. Do you talk during movies?
Mea Culpa. I'll make wisecracks here and there if warranted. I do like to sit and enjoy a movie, but some movies deserve a wee bit of the MST3K treatment.
3. Have you ever studied another language? If so, what language--and why did you choose it? If not, what WOULD you learn, and why?
I lived in Germany for a year when I was young, and as a result can speak it fairly fluently. French and Spanish I can do at very basic levels (good reading, slow speaking/listening). I took a year of Latin and a year of Japanese as well, because they were interesting.
4. It looks like you're into martial arts! What's your favorite kind, and how far have you gotten?
I'd taken karate for six years before going to college and stopping. Then I graduated and got a job, and found another karate school that taught the same style that I had learned before, so I started up again. Combined, that's over 20 years of training. I've been teaching for ten, got a 4th degree black belt, and I like it. It's fun.
5. Who is your favorite cartoon character?
This is tough. Bugs Bunny is a classic- perfect slapstick and irreverance and cartoon insanity. Batman from "Batman: The Animated Series" was a well-designed character, very believable (in a superhero kind of way). It's a tossup between these two.
Next, from
mathnerd:
1. What's the worst part about moderating LJDQ?
Sometimes I'm just not funny. Also, sometimes I run out of booze. And sometimes people complain about things that just aren't all that important.
2. Name up to three countries you've visited and loved, up to three countries you've visited and hated, and three you'd like to visit.
Loved: Israel, Iceland, Mauritius
Hated: I think I've enjoyed every country I've visited, in some way. I'll say that I enjoyed Mexico the least, but that's because we were in a crappy city, and not a reflection on Mexico as a whole. I did almost get mugged by gypsies in Portugal, and South Africa was mostly work, not enough fun.
Would like to visit: Japan, Australia, Egypt
3. What would be your ideal Christmas present?
Peace on Earth, and good will towards men ONE BILLION DOLLARS. Because really, at that point you can buy whatever the hell you want.
4. Socks, yes/no, explain.
Yes. They go well with my dress clothes, which I wear every day to work. At home, 50/50 chance of socks.
5. Explain your username, where it came from, and whether or not it still applies to you today.
When choosing a hotmail address, I had wanted Chaos Avatar, but that one was swiped already. So I thought up a new word, and "vizier" sounded pretty good (and was worth more on Scrabble), and voila! Chaosvizier. Works great everywhere now.
On third base,
mountain_girl:
1. What's your favorite meal (including the trimmings)?
German weisswurst with fried onions, sauerkraut, and buttery mashed potatoes. Finish up with custard and stuff for dessert and I'm golden.
2. If you had 24 hours to yourself with unlimited funds, what would you do for the day?
I suspect I would rack up the biggest Amazon.com bill in all of history. After that, a very satisfying sushi dinner. And then a flight to... Vegas. First Class. Nice hotel. Tasty drink bill. Some crazy gambling because, why not? Unlimited funds! And after that... well, we'll see what happens.
3. What was your favorite book when you were a kid?
When I was really young, it was probably Charlotte's Web. Once I got a bit older, A Wrinkle In Time.
4. If you could move, where would you want to live?
Tough choice. I like Europe; the weather is moderate, there's lots of places to go, interesting stuff, and so on. Not a fan of excess heat, like Florida, Texas, SoCal. Let's say central Europe, just for kicks.
5. Do you collect anything (or have a collection of something)?
Not formally, although I do have currency from almost every country I've ever visited. Including European countries before they went to the Euro.
And then,
bending_sickle had a go:
1. What's the most expensive thing you've ever broken?
That's tricky. I've seen things break, sure, but things that I've actively broken by my own fault are mostly small things, like plates and glass ware. So I'll say "my knee" because that was me and my fault, and it was pretty costly.
2. What song would you put on repeat for an extended period of time?
I could definitely listen to "Southern Cross" by CSN for a large number of repeats.
3. What, according to you, is the worst movie in terms of quality but the best movie for MST3K-ing?
Flash Gordon. It's so damn campy and cheesy and I love it even though it's bad, and the dialogue just begs for you to help out and chime in. It's irresistable. Plus, you can sing along. Everyone loves going "DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN FLASH! AH-AAAAAAHHH! SAVIOR OF THE UNIVERSE!"
4. Chaos and mayhem results in TV shows either kicking the bucket or melding together into one giant crossover show. What shows make the cut?
I am the worst person to answer this, because I don't watch TV anymore. However, I think that Star Trek TOS, Deadwood, The Transformers, The Muppet Show, and The A Team would make a great combination.
5. What's the strangest food item you've tried and liked?
Calf's Brain is really not as bad as it sounds. Neither is Black Pudding. For overall weirdness, I'll go with Sea Cucumber.
Heeeeeere's
lady_autumnstar:
1. What sound do you most love?
This is cheesy, but the sound of silence is what I like. If I'm trying to actually do something, I do it better when there's no distracting sounds around. This goes especially for sleep.
2. What sound do you most hate?
Styrofoam crinkling, aaaargh! So... squeaky...
3. What is you favorite curse word?
Fucktacular.
4. If you couldn't do what you do, what job would you like to do?
I would love to be a real author. Or maybe a professional hit man. They both sound like fun, you know.
5. When you get to Heaven, what would you like to hear God say to you?
Things I'd like to hear: "You look like you could use one of our custom-made flaming angelic swords. Let's go smite someone!"
Things I'm more likely to hear: "Oh, I'm sorry, there's been some mistake. You're supposed to go to the other place."

heh... we're still getting mileage off of "Aperture Science".
