You are bringing back memories of my own Vegas trip, which was the culmination of a road trip that I took to seek out kitsch.

How much did you see of the New York, New York casino? That's the one that frightened me -- the level of detail they had in it was really, really unnerving:

* The lobby was a to-scale replica of the main hall in Grand Central, right down to the ceiling.

* The section that was supposed to be th rereation of central Park had a recreation of the Bow Bridge going over a fake river, leading to a restaurant that looked like Tavern On The Green. In the floor somewhere in the "Central Park" section of the casino floor is a scaled-down recreation of the IMAGINE mosaic.

* In the food court, which is made to look like "Greenwich Village," fake manhole covers in the floor periodically relase fake steam.

* In the same food court, there are also two pizza stands next to each other -- one called "Joe's Original Famous" and the other called "Original Famous Joes."

* Also in the food court, there is a food stand selling nothing but hot dogs and papaya juice smoothies.

* Periodically they have a fake "apartment building" facade that is just there for show. And affixed to one of them -- I kid you not -- there is a "No Menus" sign which is made from AN ACTUAL MENU OBTAINED FROM AN ACTUAL CHINESE RESTAURANT IN GREENWICH VILLAGE.

It was a little frightening.

...Oh, and -- I got to see Sigfried and Roy while I was there. It sounds like they had a similar plot for the first half of their show; only, instead of Cirque du Soleil, it was Sigfried and Roy. ....Their magic was actually kind of lame, I'm afraid.
